APS Swimming Pool Keys
Auckland Point School swimming pool will be open for swimming from Saturday 30th November. You can purchase your pool keys now from Jacqui in the school office.
COST: $60.00 for Auckland Point School and Auckland Point Kindy families $90.00 non school families.
BOND: $10.00 will be refunded when the pool key is returned to the school office at the end of the season, Tuesday 1 April 2014.

Safety plan for dangerous crossing

The Nelson City Council will investigate ways to improve the safety of Haven Rd near Auckland Point School, with options including reducing the road to a single lane and installing traffic lights.
Councillors this week voted to make a provision in the 2014-15 Annual Plan to investigate improving the safety of the crossing outside Auckland Point School, while acknowledging council policy to protect the Southern Arterial Corridor.
The decision came as part of a discussion around amendments to the Speed Limits Bylaw 2011.
A report given to the council by staff said the stretch of road was considered to pose significant danger to pedestrians and cyclists using the pedestrian crossing.
The best short-term action would be to install active school warning signs, improving the sight lines for pedestrians crossing Maori Rd, or narrowing Haven Rd where it approached the pedestrian crossing. Read more

All of us here, in the Auckland Point School community, congratulate past student, Amelia Cina, for her achievements at Nelson Girls College. Amelia won scholarships in geography, English and science, with two at the highest “outstanding” level.
